The Dream

Starting the Dream

Starting the Dream

Starting the Dream

My small lavender farm started as a dream in winter 2019. I sat and watched the snow one day contemplating turning my front lawn into something different. I had lived in my house for just over a year and the lawn was in bad shape. I didn't want to use chemicals to grow a lawn, so I thought hard about something else to grow instead. The soil is really sandy and dry with great drainage, it is a south facing yard in full sun. The conditions are perfect for lavender, and thus the dream was born.

Planting the Dream

Starting the Dream

I started landscaping in April 2020. The plan was to create a rainbow shape for the lavender rows with a perennial bee and butterfly garden in the middle. It was a big effort to create the perfect rainbow arch and all the rows.  The first 200 tiny lavender plants were planted in June. I diligently watered them by hand all season and watched them grow. The following year I planted a further 500 plants and installed drip irrigation.

Making the Dream

Making the Dream

My first lavender harvest was in summer 2021 from the first 200 plants. The lavender produced almost 100 bundles which were then dried. Not knowing what else to do, I gave them all away to family, friends, and neighbors. I had my first full harvest from 700 plants in summer 2022.  Dream In Lavender was born in September 2022 with my first farmers market selling my dried lavender bundles and lavender bath and body products. From there I have continued to experiment with new lavender blends.

Small Lavender Farm with Unique Gift

I care about the environment and you. That is why I use all natural ingredients in my products. Many ingredients are organic, fair trade, or sourced locally. All fragrances are natural too. All of my packaging is either made from recycled materials or is recyclable. I choose suppliers carefully, based on my philosophy.
